After 10 years, the British 470 National Sailing Championship returned to Castle Cove Sailing Club in Weymouth this weekend and JDX were honoured to be able to sponsor the event which was itself organised by, soon to be JDXer, Ella Stoggart.

Competitors included GB Olympic sailors Amy Seabright and Anna Carpenter and the 17 boats faced tough racing conditions on both Saturday and Sunday. We’re pleased to say that all returned safely.

The overall winners from the 6 races were Jonny McGovern, GB’s 470 Coach and Christian Birrell, who adds this to a number of other National Championship wins! Many congratulations to Jonny, Christian and all the competitors, and a huge THANK YOU to Castle Cove Sailing club for hosting the event.

At JDX we have long believed in the value of sport and JDXers are actively encouraged to continue their involvement in sporting activities post university. We see the benefit that sport can bring to an organisation, whether it be manifested in an individual’s commitment to learning, the JDX “can do” attitude or simply in the building of cohesive teams.

Here’s to what we hope will be an ongoing relationship with the 470 National Championship!
